Before the company, before the patent, before the book, and before the speaking engagements, Diallo M. Watts, Sr. was a son trying to help his father.
When his father, Darnell Watts, Sr., was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, Diallo and his family entered a healthcare system they weren't prepared to navigate. Like so many families, they searched for answers, tried to understand what options existed, and learned how different available can be from accessible.
That experience changed the direction of his life.
From Engineer to Founder
Diallo is an engineer by training, and the questions he began asking during his father's illness eventually led him to hyperbaric oxygen therapy and then to a larger problem: why can access to certain forms of established medical care depend so heavily on where a patient lives, where treatment is delivered, and whether the system around that patient makes care realistically reachable?
He didn't stop at the question.
Diallo founded RxAir360, Inc., where he serves as Founder, Chairman and CEO. The company is developing a patented upright hyperbaric oxygen therapy system designed around a simple idea: bring physician-led hyperbaric care closer to the places where patients already receive care.
The technology came from the mission,
not the other way around.
Then Came the Book
Years into building RxAir360, Diallo realized there was another part of the work that engineering alone couldn't solve.
Families needed information. They needed better questions. And sometimes they simply needed someone who had already been through the confusion to say, here's what I wish I had known when this started.
That became Locked Out of Healing: Why Patients Are Denied Care That Could Change Their Lives.
The book combines his family's story with what he learned along the way about healthcare access, coverage, infrastructure, innovation and the barriers that can stand between a patient and an option that exists.
It isn't a story written from a distance.
It's the story of a son, an engineer and an entrepreneur who found himself inside the problem and decided to spend years trying to open one of the doors.
The Man Beyond the Mission
Diallo is also a husband and father who grew up in Capitol Heights, Maryland, in the DMV. Long before RxAir360 or Locked Out of Healing, he learned from his parents that relationships matter, persistence matters, and when somebody you love needs you, you show up.
Those lessons still shape the way he approaches business, family and the work ahead.
Today, Diallo speaks with audiences about healthcare access, entrepreneurship, innovation, persistence, family and what can happen when a deeply personal problem becomes a mission much larger than yourself.
His conviction remains simple:
Healthcare should open doors, not lock them.
